Sage Circa 8'9" #5

This is one of those builds.. I love this rod so much I ordered myself a blank right away. The lightest, "skinniest" 5wt. ever made by Sage. Very smooth, lively, accurate. A medium fast action rod (not even close to slow) with a progressive taper but amazing recovery speed. Can be a good all around rod but it will excel on dry flies and those trick casts that I like. I like to cast it with a lighter line (#4 or even #3) because I like quicker action (not stiff rods). The Circa is a very special rod, feels ultralight in the hand, has a very small diameter, similar to the TXL series wich is pretty amazing for a rod of this size. I didn't go much different than the factory build, except the handle and a slightly lighter silk thread. I did use smaller guides that the factory build because it feels more responsive. This rod may be the perfect trout rod for those who like medium fast action rods. Rod is built for a friend in Norway. Thanks for looking!

"Ice off" casting day.

I can't remember when was the last time I had so much fun on a first spring day casting session. Took the time and decided to do some damn pictures this time! All the credit goes to my girlfriend and her camera. I think she caught those loops and rolls pretty nicely. She was really curious of what fly-casting is and how it's done.

So to explain her very simply, I remembered what one of our great teachers of fly-casting wrote in a book. In order to be able to fly-cast, you got to make the line move. What you do with the rod tip, the line will follow. As simple as that, I told her. And I have to tell you she was pretty stoked about it at the end of the day. After all, fly-casting should be fun and make fly fishing easier.

The rod I used was my old trusted Sage TCR 4wt. and a Loop Opti Stream wf4 (tad heavy) line wich is a great line for these trick casts. I can only imagine what amazing casts could the new Sage Method do in the right hands.

I hope you'll enjoy these photos folks! I surely enjoyed the day on the water.
