The Super Epic 476

This is one of the best four weights I have come across among the many fly rods I have built, cast and fished. For those who like to generate line speed combined with tip sensitivity and smooth casting should give this super 4wt. a try. I am sure there are many other great designs in glass I have yet to build.

Now this build is special all the way. Slight Mario Wojnicky style lower end with a touch of leather over the cork butt end instead of metal, is really neat. Something I've never done before. The Kabuto brown style wraps look great on the honey amber blank. Original Snake Brand snake guides and a classy Struble agate stripping guide. The gorgeous Oregon maple mortised wood insert finished in glass like epoxy and another set of Fine Tackle hardware I had from Christian, that I coated for a shiny finish. It's all about the small details in the finest handcrafted fly rods.

To top the above mentioned, the painstakingly crafted leather case by a transylvanian leather craftswoman with the Epic logo makes this rod one-of-its-kind.

Boca Grande

So I've never build a 12wt. before. I've built 10wt. spey rods but never a fiberglass rod just like this. I think Swift went over the top with this one and for good reason. I've never fished saltwater with a fly rod but I would assume this "bad Larry" here would put up some good fight with GT's, cudas, sharks, big tarpon or whatever else is out there.

I did my best on this challenging blank, both for color matching appointments and even finishing in record times for an upcoming trip. Aquamarine japanese silk wraps and simple fitting in chrome and black hardware. The Burkheimer style handle and fighting butt were also challenging and I'm very happy of how they turned out.

This Swift Epic BG is a one-of-a-kind fly rod. This rod has its place in some folks arsenal and is a really unique design.

Sage Mod

The highly popular Mod, discontinued last year. This was Jerry Siem's last rod design before he retired.

I have one more 390-4 blank to build sometimes this year, and this is my favorite model in the line. This rod can do a little bit of everything when fishing for trout, on smaller to medium sized streams, even larger ones. From dries and long leaders to dry-dropper rigs or euro-nymphing, and small streamers when in need. With the deeper loading action, somewhat like fiberglass, nice loop control and great line speed, this rod is a delight to cast when paired with the right line. The fishability is great since this rod retains the essence of a trout rod by not being a broomstick, yet still having the power to fire out line if you need to reach a distant riser, with good casting skills.

This one was build for a friend here in Romania, troutbum kind of guy and river activist.

Simplicity is complexity resolved, as a great romanian artist once said and the understated appointments on this rod attest that.

Clear silk wraps, black and chrome accents, and a gorgeous NOS vera wood insert from Struble with Bellinger ultralight anodized aluminum hardware.

With painstaking attention to details, this blank got the best treatment available and is as good as it can get in a Sage custom fly rod. I filled up the internet with pics of it and I bet most Sage guys would "die" to own a rod like this. HA!
