Steffen 7'3" 2/3wt. for sale

I am offering this beautiful Steffen rod up for sale. Not something you will see very often. The rod comes with a rugged, very protective and classy leather rod tube, handcrafted by master transylvanian craftsmen.

This is my favorite in the Steffen glass line rated for 2/3 wt. in 7'3" (2.20m) and a beautiful rod for small stream fishing. I would call it a real 3wt. rod and casts a dt or wf line with buttery smooth feel. The rod has a medium action with the backbone for larger fish when needed. Feels very light in the hand and it's a delight to cast.

Comes with some very classy fittings, like a small dark bronze uplocking reel seat with a beautiful walnut wood, slim cigar handle from the finest cork, bronze snake guides and stripping guide and complementary chestnut silk wraps.

I am asking $600 plus shipping ($50). For non-european countries please contact me for a shipping quote. Shipping two piece rods can be a little bit more expensive than the usual.

Thank you for looking! The rod has now SOLD.

Swift Epic 480 Mocha

A stunning blank from Swift Fly Fishing finished in my presentation grade. I had one awesome piece of curly koa wood and one dark bronze anodized sliding band set for this special build. This 480 Epic rod truly performes as good it looks! It's snappy for roll casts. Smooth. Delicate. Powerful. Paints a dry on the water. An 8' foot 4 weight perfection. It will the mail this week heading for Sweden. Thanks for looking everyone!

Spring trout

Finally found some time to do a first trout fishing session this spring.

In these fast running mountain streams, trouts hold deep and will only take heavily weighted nymphs fished near the bottom.

Maybe not my favorite style of fishing (french nymphing) but it does produce trout and it takes a lot of practice to perfect the style. I'll try to upload a short film later. I tried to show how the nymphs are controlled with the long sensitive rod (no fish were caught during the filming though). Sometimes it's the only way to make a trout bite in this cold, fast running spring water with the snow still melting.

Was great to be out on the river again fishing with a good old friend. Good fishing everyone!

Steffen 7'9" 3/4wt.

Because each rod I build has its own story, I'll tell you the short version of a very special Steffen rod, one that I am particulary proud of.

I loved the ideea of creating a very different Steffen build in all aspects especially in those that I haven't had the chance to point up so far. The ideea of an elegant leather tube that would complement a classy, striking fiberglass build was in mind for a long time. There are many leather craftsmen in Transylvania, some of them are too old to be easy to work with. But finally the long wait was over and I discovered recently that one of my best friends from college had a bigger brother who learned the craft from an old craftsman. Long story short. I'm showing you his second work and I am very grateful that that he's put his time and knowledge to create this beauty of a rod tube to complement this special fly rod. The leather was dyed and waxed for a lustrous finish, just like those Steffen blanks deserve. I really hope you'll like it and that you'll take into consideration that the results you are seeing today took ten straight years of very hard work.

This is a heirloom quality rod, available on special requests only and can take longer to make. Thank you for looking.
